Thomas Houseago British, b. 1972
Overview
Thomas Houseago is known for his monumental sculptures and dynamic approach to form and material.
He studied at Central Saint Martins, London, in the early 1990s, and later at De Ateliers in Amsterdam. After several years living and working in Brussels, Houseago relocated to Los Angeles in 2004, where he continues to live and work.
Houseago’s practice bridges classical and contemporary influences, blending figuration and abstraction with a raw, expressive physicality. His works often engage with the human form, mythology, and art historical archetypes, rendered through unconventional materials such as plaster, hemp, iron rebar, and wood.
